The Beijinger recently hosted “Culturopolis”, an international cultural and lifestyle expo at Shouchuang Langyuan Station. The event featured exhibitors from international schools, local and global businesses, and healthcare providers, attracting a diverse audience of both Beijing residents and expatriates.
This year marked the inaugural participation of Peking University International Hospital (PKUIH) in a major international cultural event. PKUIH’s International Medical Center attended the two-day expo, including Mark Wen, Chief International Medical Officer of Peking University Healthcare, along with Deputy Directors Liu Hao and Liu Fangxun.
At the event, the PKUIH team highlighted the hospital's distinctive medical services, emphasizing its strong clinical capabilities and humanistic approach to care for the international community.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultations were available on-site
As a healthcare exhibitor at Culturopolis, PKUIH’s designed its booth around the theme of international medical services for expatriates, featuring several interactive zones. Joshua Hiller from PKUIH’s International Medical Center was on site to provide detailed introductions about the hospital’s strengths in international patient care, core specialties, global collaborative resources, and comprehensive service coverage.

Throughout the weekend, the booth hosted interactive experience sessions, allowing visitors to engage directly with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and explore sports wellness in a dedicated area.
TCM and rehabilitation therapists were present to offer basic health consultations, TCM constitution identification, and simple rehabilitation guidance. Attendees received daily wellness tips and learned about the core TCM principle of "treatment based on syndrome differentiation," as well as scientific methods of rehabilitation. Many expatriates stopped to participate and ask questions, showing keen interest in the offerings of TCM.

Physiotherapist Zhang Qin updates Leaderboard for yoga challenge
Two interactive activities - a health-themed quiz and a yoga challenge - added dynamic energy to the booth, with winners receiving PKUIH-branded gifts. During the health-themed quiz, staff posed questions on everyday health knowledge and common disease prevention, offering practical insights through conversation. The yoga challenge, guided by a rehabilitation therapist, invited participants to hold a tree pose while balancing yoga bricks on their head and in each hand, competing to see who could maintain the pose the longest and have their name featured on the scoreboard.

It served not only to showcase the hospital’s international services but also to build meaningful connections with the expatriate community. By blending cultural engagement with professional healthcare insights - including personalized introductions to the professionalism and humanistic aspects of Chinese medicine - the event created a unique and accessible experience for every attendee.
Moving forward, PKUIH’s International Medical Center will continue to deliver exemplary medical services for expatriates by leveraging its global network, advanced diagnostics and treatment technologies, and comprehensive care system. The hospital remains committed to participating actively in international cultural exchanges, adopting an open and professional approach to foster medical and health dialogue, share the strengths of both Western and Chinese medicine, and provide high-quality, convenient, and compassionate healthcare for all patients, both Chinese and expatriates.
