Psychology

The Department of Psychology and Behavioral Medicine was established in December 2014. With the support and care of the Peking University Health Science Center during its early stages, more than 10 experts and professors from Peking University Sixth Hospital successively joined the department to provide professional support, academic exchange, and talent development. This laid a solid foundation for the department's growth. Under the leadership of the founding department head, Professor Li Xiaojun, the department entered a period of rapid development, consistently maintaining high patient volumes, patient satisfaction, and departmental recognition.

The current director is Dr. Xie Yan, Associate Chief Physician, who has over 20 years of clinical and managerial experience in psychiatry and psychology. The department staff includes one chief physician, three associate chief physicians, and two attending physicians, all of whom have extensive clinical experience in the fields of psychiatry and psychology as well as strong educational backgrounds.

Additionally, the department has invited renowned and influential experts in the field of psychological and behavioral medicine, including Professor Li Xiaojun and Professor Zhang Yanping, to serve as members of the psychological counseling and psychotherapy advisory team. Leveraging the hospital’s multidisciplinary strengths, the department promotes the development of psychological and behavioral medicine and advances the harmony of mind, family, and society. Adhering to a “patient-centered” philosophy, the department has developed an integrated model of care combining pharmacological intervention with psychological support, meeting the growing needs for mental health through the implementation of the biopsychosocial model.
