The main functions of the department include providing general medicine-related diagnosis and treatment services, undertaking general medicine teaching, training, and research activities, and training high-level general medicine talent.

Through the exemplary teaching by the department’s faculty, the department will leverage the advantages of general medicine in a comprehensive hospital setting in clinical practice, teaching, and research. The department will collaborate with community healthcare institutions to train highly skilled general practitioners, supporting the implementation of two-way referrals between the comprehensive hospital and community healthcare institutions.

General practice is a comprehensive medical discipline that integrates clinical medicine, preventive medicine, rehabilitation medicine, and human social sciences. It focuses on patient-centered care, with specialties in chronic diseases, common diseases, frequently occurring diseases, multi-morbidity, mental health issues, and medication management.

The department provides continuous, comprehensive medical services to patients. Currently, the department includes a general medicine outpatient clinic and inpatient wards.
