Department Introduction

Since its establishment, the Department of Ophthalmology at Peking University International Hospital has been steadily forging a professional diagnosis and treatment system by leveraging top-tier medical resources and expert expertise. Today, it has evolved into a comprehensive ophthalmic center anchored in fundus disease management and distinguished by excellence in fundus surgery, setting a professional benchmark for fundus disease care in northern China.

The department boasts a well-structured, highly proficient medical team, comprising 11 physicians with senior professional titles and 16 holding doctoral degrees—placing it among the front-runners in the proportion of high-education and high-title talents. Complemented by 17 experienced specialist nurses and 6 professional technical staff, it has established a streamlined collaborative service model integrating medical treatment, nursing care, and technical support.

In terms of resource allocation, aligning with the hospital’s overarching "unified bed management" philosophy, the department is one of the few with an independent ward, offering 40 beds to fully accommodate patient needs. Clinically, it excels in complex fundus surgeries, with approximately 70% of patients hailing from northern provinces and municipalities such as Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, and Hebei—underscoring its significant radiating power and regional influence.
