Transfusion Medicine

The Department of Transfusion Medicine at Peking University International Hospital was established in December 2014 and is located on the second floor of the outpatient building. There are currently 1 physician and 9 technicians in the department. With more than 400 square meters of dedicated space, the department includes facilities for blood storage, cross-matching, blood issuing, complex blood typing, and transfusion consultation.

As a specialized department, the Transfusion Medicine Department integrates blood product storage, testing, distribution, autologous blood collection and storage, as well as clinical transfusion therapy capabilities. The department is equipped with automated blood grouping and cross-matching analyzers, dedicated blood storage refrigerators, low-temperature blood preservation cabinets, platelet agitators, low-temperature workbenches, and plasma thawing devices. 

Major services include ABO and Rh blood group identification, irregular antibody screening, transfusion compatibility testing, direct antiglobulin tests, comprehensive antiglobulin tests, antibody titer determination, autologous transfusion, neonatal hemolytic disease screening, complex cross-matching, transfusion therapy, and consultation.

The department offers clinicians safe and timely blood transfusion services 24 hours a day and has mastered the complete process of stem cell apheresis collection, fractionation, cryopreservation, and thawing techniques.
