Department Introduction

The Department of Gastroenterology at Peking University International Hospital encompasses inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, and an endoscopy center. It serves as a member unit of the National Early Gastrointestinal Cancer Collaborative Network, a specialized training base for digestive endoscopy in Beijing, and the leading institution within the Changping District Medical Consortium.

The department undertakes clinical and endoscopy-related teaching responsibilities for interns and residents at Peking University Health Science Center. In 2016, the department established an Animal Simulation Training Center for Digestive Endoscopy and has hosted multiple national training programs on early gastrointestinal cancer diagnosis and endoscopic ultrasound therapy. The department benefits from a well-structured team hierarchy, and highly skilled professional staff.

Inpatient care follows a primary physician responsibility system and a nursing accountability system, ensuring high-quality diagnosis and treatment. Outpatient services include premium clinics, specialist clinics, disease-specific clinics, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) clinics for complex conditions, addressing both common ailments and severe, challenging diseases. The Endoscopy Center features gastrointestinal examination and treatment rooms, an ERCP radiology suite, a gastrointestinal motility lab, and a capsule endoscopy room, comprehensively performing endoscopic diagnosis and minimally invasive treatments for digestive disorders.
